Team 30 – Washington Redkskins (3-13)
The Washington Redskins may fool some people by beating expectations in 2020. The problem is that expectations are so low for the Redskins this year, that it won’t be much of an improvement. In fact, the Redskins may actually take a step backward this year, which is saying something from a 3-13 season.
2019 summary
The Washington Reskins struggled in 2019 with the duality of a fading veteran Case Keenum and a not rising fast enough rookie Dwayne Haskins. Complicating the matter further was left tackle Trent Williams sitting out an entire season. Washington cleared out the coaching staff, and have hired Ron Rivera to lead the team now.
Players lost
The first player that comes to mind is OT Trent Williams, but he sat out a season so is that truly a lost player? The team also allowed OL Ereck Flowers, QBs Colt McCoy and Case Keenum, CB Josh Norman, RB Chris Thompson, and DT Treyvon Hester to move on to other teams.
Players added
The team added CB Kendall Fuller, G Wes Schweitzer, TE Logan Thomas, and FS Sean Davis via free agency, and added DE Chase Young, OT Saadiq Charles, and WR Antonio Gandy_Golden via the draft.
2020 outlook
Washington’s 3-13 finish in 2019 created the need for coaching changes in 2020, and the team landed former Carolina Panthers head coach Ron Rivera. It’s hard to push the Reskins ahead of any team in 2020, but they can put together some success by sticking to basics and playing great defense. Of course, that all hinges upon playing great defense and a solid ball-control offense.
