Safe distancing
So the rules of social distancing will be eliminated if and when football resumes. There are likely plans in place to install appropriate face masks as part of the helmet. But at its core, the preventative efforts hinge upon creating a safe distance between persons to prevent transmitting the disease. That rule will be obliterated from the moment teams begin to practice direct contact.
Sean McVay: “Is this crazy coach Lynn? We’re talking about some of this stuff and we’re playing football. I mean we’re going to social distance but we play football? Hey, this is really hard for me to understand all this. I don’t want to be …. I don’t get it. I really don’t.”

LA Rams head coach Sean McVay is neither crazy nor alone in this line of questioning. After all, the safety of players depends upon the health of all players. With a sport that is designed for constant hands-on contact, where is the line drawn between safety and health? Today or tomorrow?
And then there are the results of testing positive. In the most optimistic of scenarios, one positive testing during an NFL season places a single player into quarantine for a minimum of ten days, plus triggers anyone he’s come into contact with. That could lead to a significant team roster testing positive simultaneously. What if that results in tracing back to another NFL team?
