NFL Prop Bets: Oddsmakers rate LA Rams QB Jared Goff’s arm better than Brady’s
The LA Rams are not getting much respect among the NFL community this season. YOu see, the projected wins totals for the team is six, the team is an underdog in the season opener against the Dallas Cowboys, and even the team is fighting the perception that they are a one and done difference make. But that is not the case for the latest prop bet by Oddschecker. Oddsmakers’ have released the over/under line regarding passing yards for every quarterback in the league, and LA Rams followers may be surprised at the results.
It is no surprise to see the reigning Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes at the top of the list with a mark of 4500 yards – a mark that Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan holds as well. Oddsmakers have rated the pair as best in the NFL for the 2020 season.
Where it truly gets interesting for anyone who cheers for the LA Rams is that third position, where QB Jared Goff takes his rightful place as the third-best passing quarterback in the NFL with 4,325.5 yards projected. That is better than fourth-place, where QB Tom Brady is projected at 4,300.5 yards. Not even Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott, despite the praises heaped upon him this off-season as he negotiated for a new contract, could do any better than fifth-place, projected at 4,275.5 yards.
Jared Goff is best in NFC West
Why is Goff so highly rated? Well for starters, he is one of just three NFL quarterbacks to throw to two 1000 yards receivers in 2019. Had the season been just two games longer, he may have added a third receiver, tight end Tyler Higbee, to the thousand-yard club.
Oddschecker spokesperson Pete Watt released the figures in a report today featuring NFL Prop Bets. From that report, the current top of the market for 2020 NFL Quarterbacks is:
Rank Name Projected Yards
1 Patrick Mahomes 4500.5
1 (T) Matt Ryan 4500.5
3 Jared Goff 4325.5
4 Tom Brady 4300.5
5 Dak Prescott 4275.5
6 Matthew Stafford 4100.5
7 Deshaun Watson 4050.5
8 Phillip River 4000.5
The report only listed the top 25 percent of NFL quarterbacks.
LA Rams 2020 offense wide open
If the oddsmakers are correct, the best quarterback in the NFC West will be LA Rams quarterback Jared Goff by a large margin. That fits the logic test, as the Rams have the best receivers in the division, and should be able to improve upon the NFL’s 31st rank offensive line this season.
It also suggests that the LA Rams offense will feature the passing attack more often than the running game. The Rams running game will be led by rookie running back Cam Akers, while the passing will boast Higbee, Cooper Kupp, Robert Woods, Josh Reynolds, rookie Van Jefferson, and tight end Gerald Everett. That’s a formidable set of receivers NFL defenses will face in 2020. According to the NFL Oddsmakers, only two other sets of receivers in the NFL are better.
