LA Rams could replace Jalen Ramsey with Patrick Surtain II

Patrick Surtain II is an elite level cornerback. He plays collegiately at the University of Alabama. He, too, will be a junior beginning this fall. Surtain’s father played 11 seasons in the NFL,  playing cornerback for both the Miami Dolphins and the Kansas City Chiefs. You must conclude that he has discussed pass-coverage, NFL defensive formations, and wide receiver routes with his son over the years..

Surtain II is a big physical cornerback. He stands 6-feet-2 weighing  203 pounds. In college, he has intercepted 3 passes and made 79 total tackles. And yes, he is not afraid of contact.

Hot. The LA Rams wisely passed twice on WR Denzel Mims. light

In or out cornerback

Bill Riccette of profootballnetwork.com assesses his potential:

"He can play on the outside, but can also move inside against slot receivers. Surtain has demonstrated excellent ability when lined up outside in man coverage and does a fantastic job of using the sidelines to his advantage. A good description of Surtain’s play is “sticky”. He sticks well to his receivers and doesn’t often allow them to create much separation."

The Rams might think about possibly trading Ramsey to move into the first round to take this outstanding prospect. Surtain II will be on the radar of every NFL team. He is a special talent with the ability to become a shutdown corner.

Here’s the last cornerback prospect to replace Ramsey.
