LA Rams News: ESPN’s Steve Mason likes LA Rams’ chance of 2020 NFL Playoff appearance

The majority of NFL sportswriters are not pro-LA Rams this season. That’s not to say that any have a personal score to settle with the Rams organization. Rather, many only follow records, rankings, and statistics for the team.  Doing that minimum, many have concluded the Rams’ future.  With just a basic understanding of veteran players signing on other teams, many pundits and prognosticators have simply followed the path of a 13-3 team to 9-7 and etch-a-sketched a prediction for the Rams’ 2020 NFL season of 6-10.

Much like a meteorologist calling for heavy snow, it’s not about getting it “right”. Rather, it’s about giving NFL fans something to debate in the off-season. By creating buzz- either positive or negative – fans will want to see for themselves.

But occasionally, one sportswriter steps up and does the homework, and follows his own instincts. So it is that ESPN’s Steve Mason has earned an ever-more-positive reputation for anyone who follows the LA Rams. Stated another way, he’s done more research on the Rams than read statistics7 and likes the Rams chances in 2020.

With the current rules of adding an extra team to the NFL post-season discussions, Mason’s win projection spots the LA Rams into that just-getting-in cusp of NFL post-season play.  Of course, Steve Mason is one of the Los Angeles correspondents for ESPN and cites Lakers. Rams. Dodgers. Trojans on his Twitter account. So he is in-the-know for good reason.  That simply serves to reinforce the optimism we’ve held fast to when considering the 2020 NFL season.
