LA Rams could hire Herm Edwards
Herm Edwards played cornerback for ten NFL seasons from 1977 through 1986. Most Rams fans might remember his role in the infamous fumble recovery in the Miracle of the Meadowlands. His scoop of a fumble and subsequent runback for a touchdown ultimately won the game for the Philadelphia Eagles in the final seconds of the game against the New York Giants in 1978.
Edwards began his coaching career in 1987 with San Jose State. For three seasons he was an offensive assistant coach. In 1990, he became a scout with Kansas City. He moved into a coaching role in 1992.
Edwards coached defensive backs from 1992-1995. He moved to Tampa Bay as the assistant head coach and defensive coach in 1996 under Tony Dungy. He got his first head coaching job in 2001.
NFL head coach: Round I
Edwards was the head coach of the New York Jets for five seasons. Kansas City named him as their head coach in 2006. Edwards coached from 2006 through 2008.
He spent the next nine seasons working at ESPN. Edwards was named as Arizona State’s head football coach in 2018. He received a contract extension after post back to back successful seasons.
Edwards’ leadership style is very effective with his younger athletes. He turned 66 years old in April but his youthful spirit inspires his players. LA would definitely benefit from his leadership.
