LA Rams: 5 Coaches who could possibly replace Sean McVay
By Larry Brake
LA Rams could hire David Shaw
The perfect hire to replace McVay is David Shaw. Currently, he is the head coach at Stanford University. There are many Stanford alums playing in the NFL.
Shaw is the winningest coach in school history. Think about all the illustrious coaches that have led the Stanford program. From Walter Camp to Bill Walsh to Dennis Green through Jim Harbaugh, Shaw is the best Stanford coach in team history.
What makes him different than most coaches? Player development is his key quality. The entrance requirement to Stanford is more rigorous than any SEC school. He may not have the highest-ranked recruits but he gets the most out of his players.
Coaching history
Shaw played receiver at Stanford from 1991 through 1994. He played for Green in ’91 and Walsh from ’92-’94. Look at the role models those head coaches were and all the lives they changed.
Now you know why Shaw should be the top candidate to replace McVay. He has coached both sides of the ball. Shaw spent five seasons coaching in the NFL after two seasons at Western Washington.
He returned to Stanford in 2007 as offensive coordinator. In 2011, he replaced Harbaugh as the head coach. Stanford football produces top-notch players ready for the NFL.
The Rams would benefit greatly from hiring Shaw. Luring Shaw away from Stanford might be an impossibility but worth the dividends reaped by the investment. Let’s see how things play out going forward.
