Week Two – Jared Goff swapping jerseys with Carson Wentz

If the careers of quarterbacks Jared Goff and Dak Prescott are forever linked by the 2016 NFL Draft, then the 0ne-two selection of Goff and Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz have linked them as permanently as identical twins. These pair are two of the best quarterbacks of the future for the NFL. And as long as they remain in the NFC, chances are that they will face one another numerous times in the playoffs.

Goff is the disciplinarian. The quarterback who stands tall in the pocket and disassembles defenses with quick motion passes that strike his receiver practically anywhere on the field of play. Wentz is the improvisation specialist, the guy who makes much of it up as he goes along. He is his most dangerous when the play breaks down.

More. Don’t sleep on LA Rams QB Jared Goff. light

Game Two critical

In week two, the pair faces off once more. In this one, the LA Rams travel across the country to take on the Eagles in Philadelphia and in the Eastern Time Zone.  Those games are notoriously difficult for a west coast team, as games are played like a 10 am PT kickoff. Now, factoring that in with sleeping in a strange hotel bed, and the Rams risk getting off to a slow start.

If the Rams will be serious contenders in 2020, the team will need to win at least one of the first two games. Ideally, winning the first two would be a dramatically strong statement. Either the Cowboys or the Eagles will win the NFC East Conference title, and beating both places the Rams back into postseason discussions. But we won’t witness Goff and Wentz trading jerseys, so even a win will feel like a hollow victory.
