Week 11 –  Aaron Donald swapping jerseys with Tom Brady

There are players in the NFL who have defined an era. I would assert that the excellent offensive execution of quarterback Tom Brady and the incredible raw defensive force of Aaron Donald will not easily be duplicated in the NFL for many years to come.  Right now, one of the epic football talents of the modern era is on the move.  Long time New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has signed on with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, hoping to lead a new team to a Super Bowl victory.

And in his way stands All-Pro defensive lineman Aaron Donald. Of course, with Donald’s production, that is the equivalent of two burly and very good NFL defensive linemen. And with Tom Brady’s age, any defensive lineman is a serious threat to his career. Perhaps that surge of danger is what makes this late-season jersey swap so significant.

Tompa Brady Buccaneers

The first season of Tom Brady in Tampa Bay is bound to be filled with excitement. After all, he is one-half of the success for the New England Patriots, whereas their head coach Bill Belichick is the other half. But which of the two is the better half? We’ll find out this year.   After all, Brady joins head coach Bruce Arians at Tampa Bay, while Cam Newton joins Belichick at New England. On paper, the Bucs have the better roster. So who of the two wins more games?

The Rams have a say in that, as the team faces both the Patriots and the Buccaneers this year. Originally, the Bucs game loomed as the more difficult. But after the Patriots agreed to a deal with Newton, I’m not as convinced. The LA Rams could lose both games, and just as easily win both games. In a perfect world, the Rams defeat the Buccaneers handily, and at the end of the game Donald and Brady exchange jerseys. But we are rapidly discovering that 2020 is not a perfect world.
