The new LA Rams logos and uniforms should be quarantined until further notice

Remember earlier this year when the LA Rams revealed the new logos? Then the new uniforms were revealed to as much approval as what the logos received. Well, enough time has passed and they are still horrible.

Sometimes things tend to grow on you after time has passed. Even the old saying, “outta sight, outta mind”, reverses course when you catch a glimpse of those redesigned Rams horns and gradient numbers. Why fix it, if it ain’t broke?

Rams legend Eric Dickerson was never a fan of the new threads. Now, Jack Youngblood has come out against them, too. John Turney of nflfootballjournal.blogspot.com asked Youngblood about his thoughts concerning the new logo and uniforms.

Turney no fan of the new logo

Turney writes the following:

"…The horn is terrible. It looks like a “C”. When I first saw it on the logo I honestly thought it was a Charger logo. Now when I see it on the helmet, it just isn’t a ram horn. … I don’t know how the Rams could get that wrong. … It’s just not us, it’s not the Rams."

Youngblood continues with his observations:

"From what I can tell the blue and gold ones are okay, except for the horns on the helmet and shoulders. The grey ones are weird. I looked at the website and the close-up shots of the uniforms. I don’t know why there is a sun on the shoulders of the grey uniform. The sun on the shoulder and the crescent moon on the helmet? It’s weird. I don’t understand it. We’re the Rams, not the sun and the moons. We’re not the zodiacs, are we?"

He made a good point concerning the Rams logo. Tradition is a difficult thing to change or even tweak it a little. There is no reason to tweak or update the traditional Rams logo.

Rams Chargers

The LA Rams will play its 84th NFL season in 2020. After so much history and winning tradition, should the Rams front office thought a team rebrand was necessary? Actually, the Rams should have taken notice of how well the LA Chargers’ new uniforms were such a bit hit with fans.

Kevin Demoff should call a press conference to announce that the new logo and uniforms have tested as toxic as plutonium. He needs to explain that they will be quarantined until further notice. LA will wear the traditional uniform of the Fearsome Foursome.

In reality, the Rams appear to be bound and determined to stick with the new look. Hopefully, they will embrace the rich Rams tradition. Let’s see how it plays out.
