LA Rams RB Darrell Henderson injury update
By Bret Stuter
The LA Rams running back Darrell Henderson came up hobbling during team’s first scrimmage, here is an injury update
The LA Rams certainly don’t need to have another go-round with the injury bug. And so far, the team has only modestly been brushed up against by the scourge of the NFL roster. As of the pre-scrimmage status, the Rams were dealing with two players who were not practicing with pads on.
The first was NT A’Shawn Robinson, who was assigned to the team’s active on August 8, 2020, as reported by The Athletic’s Jourdan Rodrigue. The second injury came on August 18, 2020, when Sean McVay shared that S Taylor Rapp had a minor knee injury and would not be practicing in pads per The Athletics’s Jourdan Rodrique.
Strike three, Henderson is out of the game
So two injuries, neither expected to end their seasons. So that’s not too bad. Oh, but there is one more, isn’t there? Yes, and it happened during the early minutes of the LA Rams scrimmage game at SoFi Stadium.
Following the play, Henderson left the sidelines to most likely be examined by athletic trainers.
Where does that leave the Rams now?
Well, we’ll need to await an official status report on Darrell Henderson’s injury. While there is no indication yet as to its severity, the Rams have plenty of players on the roster to manage while his future is sorted out. The post-game details came as follows:
For the scrimmage game, the lost load by Henderson was picked up by rookie RB Cam Akers. The Rams will need to figure out what the diagnosis is for Darrell Henderson. The team will need to schedule more detailed diagnostic imaging, like an MRI. That will likely happen today. As soon as more news is available, we’ll be happy to share it.
For now, the Rams will likely be looking at either John Kelly or Xavier Jones to get some reps. With Henderson active in both the passing and running aspects of the offense, the Rams will need to fast track either running back to assume a role in the passing game. Stay Tuned. Football is definitely back.
UPDATE: Per Tom Pelissero, RB Darrell Henderson suffered a low-grade hamstring injury
That is great news. While it certainly bears monitoring, it’s probably the best outcome fans could have hoped for.
