Cody Kessler (Browns, Jaguars, Eagles, Patriots)

The Cleveland Browns 2016 third-round pick, Cody Kessler saw a good amount of playing time in Cleveland his rookie season before getting shipped to Jacksonville to back up Blake Bortles. Kessler has good, quality reps on his resume, and although he is limited with what exactly he can bring to the field due to a limit in arm strength

Based on his experience and NFL savviness, Kessler would probably slide up the depth chart over John Wolford. After all, he’s been there, done that in terms of what NFL defenses can throw at him.   As much as John Wolford has shown in the preseason, training camp, and scrimmages, everyone knows that it’s not full-on NFL game action.

Emergency backup

Kessler is a veteran of NFL games, plain and simple. He is that emergency quarterback that the Rams need, much like a fire alarm. In case of needing an emergency quarterback, just break the glass.

The only potential downside that the Rams would have by signing Kessler is that I doubt Kessler could be much of a teacher. He’d have to be more of a plan B in the event of a Jared Goff injury. He may offer younger players some guidance in terms of how to handle life in the NFL. But for tips to improve their game? Meh.
