Offense winners

The accolades pouring onto LA Rams rookie wide receiver Van Jefferson are endless. But there is a bit of cold water reality that needs to be considered too. So many were not happy when the LA Rams chose WR Van Jefferson.  Sometimes the talent is just too much to resist. He’s lights out so far in training camp. But training camp is not an NFL season.

The LA Rams will likely put Van Jefferson in for some offensive snaps. But he won’t start. He likely won’t have a chance of earning a WR3 slot throughout the entire month of September. That is not to say that he won’t be in the running for a thousand-yard season. His real work will come after the week-nine bye.

Workhorse running back

Running back John Kelly is hoping that three times is the charm.  Drafted by the Rams, he was the 176th player chosen in the 2018 NFL Draft. Since arriving to the team, he has been shuttled between the practice squad and the active roster. Each year, he’s seen action in four games.  This year, with Darrell Henderson remaining out with a minor hamstring injury, Kelly may have a chance of making the 53-man roster.

To emphasize the point, he even ran one in for a score. If you wanted to see Kelly’s TD run:

Even John Kelly is getting in on the scoring. Will it be enough to land him a roster spot? We’ll find out this week.
