Special Teams winners

The LA Rams kicker competition continued in the second scrimmage. Unfortunately, punter Johnny Hekker (holder) was with his wife during the birth of their infant, and backup holder Cooper Kupp left the game early. In this one, Austin MacGinnis won the evening.

I remain confident that Lirim Hajrullahu will get the job. So far, he has been the most reliable kicker. He also has a strong background in punting, which affords the Rams a back up to Hekker in an emergency.

Return roles

What about kick and punt return duties?  That appears to be narrowed down to a three-man race. The contestants? Well, veteran return specialist Nsimba Webster appears to be a lock at WR5 and as a kick returner. So that puts the last spot down to either Earnest Edwards IV or Trishton Jackson.

Even if your favorite player does not land a starting return role, there is a strong likelihood that the player(s) not chosen will still be signed to the team’s practice squad.
