WR Kupp

The LA Rams will be prepared to throw to the open receiver. This week, that open man will be Cooper Kupp. After all the huffing and puffing from Eagles slot cornerback Nickell Robey Coleman, he must now put it onto the football field.  Unfortunately for him, he’ll line up against the LA Rams’ most dangerous slot receiver on the roster.

Robert Woods had a huge game last week, as the Cowboys focused on defending Kupp. Now Kupp will have a huge game, as the Eagles will focus their top defensive back on stopping Woods. In 2019, Kupp opened the season with just 56 yards in the season opener against the Carolina Panthers. In the next four games, he accounted for over 100 yards of receiving offense, as well as four receiving touchdowns.

Kupp will get more looks

The Rams only targeted Kupp five times in the first game. He was only targetted fewer times in four of 16 games in 2019. This week, he’ll get plenty of looks.  How so? Keep in mind that offensive coordinator Kevin O’Connell helped Washington’s quarterback Dwayne Haskins to have a solid performance in 2019, one of the few games he actually looked the part of an NFL quarterback. Now, O’Connell will replicate that performance with a much better player at quarterback, Jared Goff.

Can the Eagles stop Kupp? They could if they are happy to sell out the secondary to do so. They will be too eager to stop other Rams’ weapons to take that risk. That means a very motivated Kupp will put up some serious yardage in this one.  After all, the shock of a new contract is behind him, and now Kupp will focus on putting up some yards. He does in this one.
