The LA Rams game outcome means a great deal to the team
By Bret Stuter
The LA Rams win their second game. But the second win means far more to this team than 2-0
The LA Rams emerged with a larger margin of victory over the Philadelphia Eagles than anyone had expected. This was a game that the Philadelphia Eagles had to win. This was a game the Philadelphia Eagles were favored to win. This was a game that the Philadelphia Eagles returned many players to the starting lineup because they needed a win.
Despite traveling thousands of miles, adjusting to the East Coast time difference, facing head coach Doug Pederson, and a lot of disbelief and downright disrespect, the LA Rams win their second game of the 2020 NFL Season. This was a team that many expected to begin the season with three straight losses. Instead, the LA Rams are already 2-0 and have a strong upper hand for an NFC playoff berth.
It couldn’t have happened that way
This was a game the Rams were not supposed to win, and they claimed victory in a way they were not supposed to win with. Micah Kiser had a huge game. Jared Goff completed 20 of 27 passes for 267 yards and three touchdowns. Those touchdowns were all thrown to tight end Tyler Higbee, whose five receptions included three touchdown passes.
The Rams defense did not record a sack, but they did knock the ball loose and recover a fumble, as well as pick off Carson Wentz twice. Three turnovers to one for the Eagles. Big defenders on the day included the 16 tackle and one forced fumble performance of linebacker Micah Kiser, Kenny Young with four tackles, one forced fumble, and one quarterback hit,
Rams keep on grinding
The Eagles knew that the Rams wanted to run with the ball. And yet, when the game was over, the Rams had rushed 39 times for 191 yards. Jared Goff had passed 20 of 27 times for 267 yards and three touchdowns. And the Rams jumped out to an early lead and never surrendered it in the entire game. For a second time, the Rams offense generated over 400 yards of production and multiple touchdowns.
Meanwhile, the Rams defense is stiff on giving up points, particularly in the second half when the team has a chance to adjust to what the opposing offense is trying to do. In two straight weeks, the Rams defense has only allowed just three points in the second half.
The 2-0LA Rams will now travel to face the 2-0 Buffalo Bills. Meanwhile, the 0-2 Eagles will host the 0-2 Cincinnati Bengals. Now that Rams head coach Sean McVay has defeated the Philadelphia Eagles, he will finally be rid of the inability to defeat their coach Doug Pederson. In fact, he likely knows that the Rams can win on any given week.
