First – Honesty

Of course, the first attribute that the LA Rams must adhere to this year is to remain honest. Honesty means both to acknowledge the weaknesses of the team which is the first step to a solution.  But it also means to recognize the strengths of this team. Those components of this team that can result in a competitive advantage.

Finally, the team must be willing to admit that they do not know what they do not know. The LA Rams have been incredibly successful at anticipating what their opponents are likely to do and then game planning to outflank their efforts. It has helped the Rams come out to good starts to games with limited advanced knowledge about what the opponent might do.

In-game adjustments

The Rams can plan to their hearts’ content, but they must be willing to jettison game plans, in part or altogether if the opponent is getting the best of the team. In those cases, the team must find some way to make positive yards and work on those plays.  Some games, players struggle or the game plan faces a new type of response. In those cases, it’s up to the coaching staff to respond effectively.

So far, the Rams have been an incredible second-half team.  In two games, the Rams have outscored their opponents 23-6 in the second half. In both games, the defense has only allowed one field goal to the opponent.  Can the LA Rams do better? You bet. This team has made a nice blend of young talent and veteran leaders on both offense and defense. The Rams offense is really cooking again, with head coach Sean McVay joining forces with offensive coordinator Kevin O’Connell. The defense has been a delight to watch, as the Rams have been incredible stout early.
