23. Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jacksonville Jaguars are a scrappy 1-3 team that play good teams close. Conversely, they play their next four games against sub-par opponents before resuming against the better teams from the AFC and NFC North.

2020 Summary

After four games, the Jaguars are a surprising 1-3, having shocked a very good Indianapolis Colts team in the season opener, lost to the Titans by three points, and have since lost to beatable Dolphins and Bengals teams. We projected the Jaguars to land the number one pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, and they are still looking like a team that could lose a lot of games.

2020 Outlook

The Jaguars defense gives up 30+ points and the offense scores 20+ points. In fact, the Jaguars’ defense is on track to break the franchise record as the worst defense in team history.  Well, that’s completely understandable given the fact that the team has depleted the defense of so many unhappy players who now suit up for other teams.

I like the spunk of young quarterback Gardner Minshew. He will fight for wins each outing. But without much help from the defense, those wins are few and far between. The Jaguars may surprise a few teams, but not enough to become relevant this season.
