NFL Power Rankings: October Edition finds LA Rams rising
By Bret Stuter
26. Washington Football Team
A very inspired Washington Football team came back from a 17 point deficit to defeat the Philadelphia Eagles in the season opener, but have fallen back to the projected struggles over the past three following games. They are 1-3 but remain very much in the race for the NFC East division crown.
2020 Summary
After four games, Washington has decided out of the blue to demote second-year quarterback Dwayne Haskins and go with former Carolina Panther quarterback Kyle Allen to start against the LA Rams. The strategy could either be one of going all in to win a division crown that remains within reach. Or the strategy could be a sign of mailing this season in to reload the team with a top quarterback from the 2021 NFL Draft.
2020 Outlook
Washington plays the Rams, Giants x2, and Cowboys over the next four games. They could certainly go 2-2 over that span, and perhaps defeat the Cowboys in Washington if they can control the clock, the ball, and the Cowboys receivers. If Washington fails to get to .500 the week after their bye, then they will be unable to win the division crown.
Washington does not need to defeat the Rams. They simply need to defeat the Giants, the Cowboys, and the Eagles to with the NFC East and claim a playoff berth.
