Injury update: LA Rams rookie sensation Jordan Fuller finds himself heading to IR

One of the best surprises for the LA Rams 2020 defense is the outstanding play of rookie safety Jordan Fuller. He’s been phenomenal, both in coverage and tackling. So much so that his absence in the defense is noticeable in the decline of the overall performance. In short, when Fuller is out, the defense suffers.  And with today’s report of Fuller heading to injured reserve, the LA Rams are once more in need of making up the difference.

Per The Athletic’s Jordan Rodrigue, Fuller aggravated a previous shoulder injury in the victory over Washington.  That injury to the same spot likely has forced the Rams to take stronger measures to allow him to heal up.

Reset on reserve

Of course, a player who hits hard and tackles well like Fuller will risk injury to his shoulder. So a detour to injured reserve to allow him time for his shoulder to heal more completely is wise.

Now the Rams must fill his spot on the active roster, as well as make up his role on defense.

The Rams have been here before and discovered that the same miscommunication that haunted the LA Rams in 2019 has yet to be corrected in 2020.  Perhaps this will give the Rams a chance to not only hit the reset on Fuller’s health but to reset the secondary to handle those past errors.
