LA Rams ILB Micah Kiser is a difference-maker versus the 49ers
The LA Rams last defeated the San Francisco 49ers on December 30, 2018. The final score in that one was 48-32. At the time, the LA Rams closed out the season at 13-3, and the 49ers finished at 4-12. The next year, the LA Rams lost both games again the 49ers. But late in the season, the Rams nearly pulled off a tremendous upset. The final score of their second contest was 34-31, decided by a field goal. Last year, it was the 49ers who finished at 13-3, and the Rams ended at 9-7.
In both years, the LA Rams and San Francisco 49ers play like rivals. Throw out the records, this one is a battle. In both 2018 and 2019, the LA Rams have allowed opponents to run the ball very well. This year, that’s not the case. The LA Rams are showing a bit of backbone when it comes to stopping the run. The difference-maker is ILB Micah Kiser, and he’s on his way back to play this week.
That’s huge for the Rams.
Micah makes a difference
The fact is that Kiser is giving the Rams a solid defense against some of the best rushers in the NFL. He helped the Rams to hold Ezekiel Elliot, Miles Sanders, and Devin Singletary to less than 100 yards, even though all teams wanted to run the ball and control the clock. Each week, running backs are given huge opportunities to run, and run, and runn some more. And while the Rams gives up some rushing yards, they don’t give up big plays. They don’t give up 100 yards. That’s because it’s Micah Kiser’s watch, and he plays the run very well.
After a week where he missed tackles, Kiser put on a display that was worthy of a highlight reel. He put up 16 tackles against the Philadelphia Eagles in a very physical game. Kiser is around the ball, and when he gets there he can bring down the runner.
This week the Rams face the 49ers. Toss finesse and cute out the window. This is going to be a matchup that will test the Rams physically and mentally. In short, it’s going to be a slobber-knocker. In those games, having Micah Kiser on the field is a huge plus for the Rams. He’s a difference maker, and will make a difference in this one.
