New York Giants

From the moment that the NY Giants lost RB Saquon Barkley to injury for the season, they needed to open the phone lines for possible trades. They are a team loaded with linebacker talent, but they need help in their backfield, on their offensive line, and receivers who can run routes. The LA Rams need linebacker talent. Could they work out a deal?

Well now that the Giants have lost six games, they are looking forward to next season. Why not? After all, they are not playing well enough to compete in a very bad NFC East division. And they have lost their most dangerous offensive weapon. And they gambled on drafting three solid offensive linemen in the 2020 NFL Draft in a year where rookie offensive linemen had almost no chance of success. OLB Markus Golden was traded the morning after the Giants loss on Thursday Night Football to the Arizona Cardinals. The second NY fire sale is underway.

Evan Engram to the Rams

With their offensive line struggles, it makes sense for the team to divest of talented veterans and aim toward synchronizing their roster to blossom together several years from now.   If the Rams can talk about C.J. Mosley from the Jets, then why not shoot for tight end Evan Engram from the Giants? He incredibly powerful, proficient at catching passes, can block, and most of all, the Rams can prevent him from landing with an NFC West rival.

Of course, the Rams would be interested in guard Kevin Zeitler, who has already been reported in the latest NFL rumors as being discussed ‘pretty consistently in trade talks, While WR Golden Tate is also mentioned, don’t look for the Rams to have any interest. The Rams most certainly would be interested in either rookie Shane Lemieux or Matt Peart. Peart is a 6-foot-7 318-pound offensive tackle picked up in round three of the 2020 NFL Draft. Could the Giants be persuaded to part with him so soon?

Of course, the Giants have solid linebackers, like David Mayo, Blake Martinez, and even Davante Downs would be a nice depth addition. The Giants are selling now for future draft picks. It would make sense for the LA Rams to work overtime now to get a handle on their players and make some offers.
