LA Chargers

The LA Chargers are in a tough spot, having hopes for a bright future but never getting their balloon to fly. They had high hopes for 2020, but they were hammered with injuries.  Now they’ve gone with rookie quarterback Justin Herbert and remain close to success, but come up short. Are they ready to convert some talent today for future building blocks?  While it may not be time just yet, the imminent trade deadline can be awfully persuasive. Of course, the Chargers are at 2-4 but are still reeling.

Our friends over at Bolt Beat have done the heavy lifting for us already, identifying two players the Chargers could part ways with before the trade deadline. With a stroke of good luck, both players are in positions that would most certainly warrant a phone call from the LA Rams front office in free safety Desmond King and inside linebacker Denzel Perryman.

Hot. LA Rams should call these 4 NFC teams about a possible trade. light

Two-fer Tuesday

Desmond King is a nice player to bring in as the Rams are feeling the effects of multiple injuries at the safety position. While rookie Jordan Fuller is on Injured Reserve to heal a nagging shoulder injury, rookie Terrell Burgess was carted off the field in a boot. Now down two safeties, the Rams need to consider help. King is an ideal safety for the Rams scheme. He plays the pass well and can deliver a solid tackle. He is in the fourth year of his rookie deal, so it would be a one-year rental. But he is good.

Denzell Perryman is a 5-foot-11 240-pound inside linebacker who is part of the Chargers’ rotation. While he is by no means a three-down 16 game starter, he is a veteran who has talent at the position. He is a six-year veteran, can defend both the run and the pass, and should be a reasonable seventh-round pick of the 2022 NFL Draft. The Rams need depth at the position, and Perryman is ideally suited for that role.
