LA Rams A’Shawn Robinson arrival huge boost for tough schedule

As the LA Rams prepare to take on NFC West rivals, A’Shawn Robinson will give them more to think about

The LA Rams have played just one game against another NFC West team. When the Rams took on the 49ers, the Rams were a bit out of sorts. The defense had just lost rookie safety Jordan Fuller for an extended period, and the 49ers had just reactivated a number of key players.  The game did not go as well as the Rams had hoped, and one reason was that the Rams faced a 49ers teams with more weapons while playing a bit shorthanded.

Now it’s the Rams turn to activated some key players. The Rams plan to have both Fuller and veteran defensive lineman A’Shawn Robinson on the field to face the Seattle Seahawks. That means that the Rams pass rush will be even more dangerous to face Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson. Wilson has been sacked 24 times this year.

He could approach over 30 sacks after the Rams game.

More than a nose for the football

The Rams are excited to get A’Shawn Robinson onto the football field. But it’s more than just to line him up over the center and gobble up blockers. Robinson is surprisingly agile for a big NFL defensive lineman. He can slide out to take on offensive tackles, stay inside to take on offensive guards and centers, rush the passer, and even take on multiple blockers to free up other defenders to get to the quarterback.

The Rams need a surge from some part of the team right now. They’ve been flipping from very good to below average. They need a statement game, a clear full team effort against a very good team, to shake the tarnish.  A big win against the Seahawks would do more than elevate the Rams’ reputation among pundits. It would give the team the boost they need to compete for a playoff berth, and perhaps even the NFC West crown.

This will be A’Shawn Robinson’s first season playing meaningful games late in the season. You can look for a huge game right out of the gates from him this weekend.  He loves it in Los Angeles and would love to be part of an impressive Rams win. Look for the Rams defense to be a factor in the game. And look for A’Shawn Robinson to be a huge factor in the Rams defense.
