Keyshawn ignites war: ‘LA Rams QB Goff is better than Murray’
By Bret Stuter
LA Rams QB Jared Goff has one defender. ESPN’s Keyshawn Johnson ignites war on air after claiming ‘Goff is better than Murray’
The LA Rams starting quarterback Jared Goff is once more at the epicenter of controversy. But this time it is not due to his turnovers. And it’s not due to a plunge of his accuracy. In fact, it’s not even due to a sub-par performance under center. No, the controversy occurred on ESPN’s morning radio talk show, Keyshawn, JWill & Zubin, when Keyshawn Johnson declared that LA Rams quarterback Jared Goff is better than Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray.
That ignited an animated debate on air. And that carried over into social media. Let’s break it down a bit.
Quarterback comparison
The fact is that when discussing the performance of two dissimilar quarterbacks, the comparison is limited to similar qualities. What do we mean? Well, let’s compare the two quarterbacks performance this year to basic comparative statistics.
And so, let’s define what we should and should not compare in these types of analyses.
By vigorously examining each passing statistic, the matter is fairly similar. But fans of the Arizona Cardinals would be quick to point to the rushing impact of Murray to indicate a clear edge in favor of Murray. And in some ways they would be right to do so.
