II – Prediction 2

The LA Rams defense will hold the Patriots offense to under 20 points. That includes the combination of their offense, defense, and special teams. If you’ve followed the NFL scoreboard, the Patriots put up 45 points on the LA Chargers, many of which were touchdowns scored by their special teams unit. So the Patriots pose a unique challenge to NFL opponents.

The Patriots have been held to under 20 points by the Kansas City Chiefs, the Denver Broncos, and the San Francisco 49ers. Since the Rams have a pretty stout defense and are quite similar to that of the Broncos scheme-wise, the prediction of under 20 points may not seem very bold to some.

45 points

Well, after the Patriots won their most recent game by a score of 45-0, that is all out the window. Whatever funk was tamping down the Patriots’ ability to score points is now out the window. They are scoring points in practically every way conceivable.

The Rams can take away very dangerous receivers. But to be fair, the Patriots do not possess elite receivers. They do their most damage by flirting with a passing game but turning to the running game to put up points. To stop this offense, the Rams will need to contain Cam Newton, stop the running game, and hold the passing game in check.
