After a zany 2020 NFL season, what if the LA Rams roster gets zanier by adding one or more of these five NFL players in the offseason?

The LA Rams roster has truly been a work of art this season. Let’s face it, on January 1, 2020, the Rams appeared to be on shaky ground at best. Long gone were the days of dominating offensive line play, heroics by running back Todd Gurley. Jared Goff appeared quite human, and head coach Sean McVay seemed to have lost his luster as well.

And yet, the LA Rams pulled off one of the best ‘non-rebuild-rebuilds’ in NFL history. Through frugal use of money, the Rams were able to re-sign more than a handful of key contributors back for 2020, added two key pieces for the new defense, and then filled in the cracks with one of the best drafts in recent history. The Rams do not have money to burn. So the 2021 NFL Free Agency market will be filled with just as much suspense, just as much controversy, and just as many questions as 2020.

Two sides of the same coin

The only difference is the type of season that the Rams will be exiting.  In 2019, the Rams were expected to at least earn a berth in the NFL Playoffs and failed to do so. Injuries, overconfidence, rigid coaching, and a host of other little problems aggregated into one large problem.  While the Rams did start changing to fix the problems late into the season, it was the old cliche’ of too little too late.

Exiting 2020 will be a different story altogether. The Rams have a dominating defense that is likely to improve next year with more experience. And the offense is reformulating how they go about their business. After two seasons of leaning heavily into the passing game, the arrival of rookie running back affords hope that the Rams offense can restore the run-first mentality.
