He’s mature and prepared

The Rams star players have a keen eye when sizing up their teammates, and when you are as good as LA Rams defensive lineman Aaron Donald, you don’t butter up a player just to be nice. So when he came out in full support of Wolford this week, he was doing more than sharing meaningless soft and kind words. He was showing support, as well as setting the bar high for Wolford’s debut.

"‘He’s getting his opportunity to step up and play a huge role to help us win this game, and I’m confident. The abilities that he has that I’ve seen through camp, through practice, the way he prepares, the way he gets himself ready, there’s no doubt in my mind that this guy’s going to go out there and play at a high level and do what he needs to do to help this team win.’"

That is a very strong endorsement from an All-Pro.

So how does a first-time quarterback go about preparing for the most important game of his football career?

So there it is. Sometimes the simplest formula is the most effective. He is not taking the path of bowing before giving a noteworthy performance. Who can’t applaud this attitude? it’s the basic principle of honor and a strong work ethic. Roll up the sleeves, get to work, we have a job to do. That is a very mature and focused perspective from a first-time quarterback. Will he have instant NFL success? Who’s to say. But he is certainly doing and saying all the right things. It’s almost as though he has been coached up for this moment. So is the addition of offensive coordinator Kevin O’ Connell at work here?
