LA Rams DB Troy Hill hopes his 3 defensive touchdowns carry over into the NFL Playoffs
The LA Rams are heading to the playoffs, and are looking for any advantage to help them advance from round one into round two. One clear advantage that any NFL team can exploit if possible is the ability to score from the defensive side of the ball. For the Rams, it has been more than a theory, as their own defensive back Troy Hill has had plenty to say on the scoreboard.
To be more exact, Hill has scored three touchdowns in the last six games of the NFL season.
That’s impressive for an offensive player. For a defensive back? It’s unheard of. But seeing is believing, and the Rams have seen what a difference it can make to put up a touchdown when the opponent has the ball.
Gift Cards
Of course, it would certainly help if the LA Rams were facing the Arizona Cardinals in round one of the NFL Playoffs. After all, the two pick-sixes came off the pass of an Arizona Cardinals quarterback. The first came off the hand of starting quarterback Kyler Murray with 4:35 remaining in the fourth quarter as the Cardinals were trying to make up a 10 point deficit. On a third and nine yards to go from their own 26-yard line, Murray threw right into the waiting arms of defensive back Troy Hill. Hill ran it in for the touchdown.
On the second pick-six, the Cardinals were driving the ball in the second quarter with a two-point lead. With just 20 seconds remaining in the half and the Cardinals driving deep on the Rams 32 yard line, backup quarterback Chris Streveler threw a pick-six to defensive back Troy Hill. Hill returned the interception 84 yards for the score. The play converted what would have been a sure field goal for the Cards into a touchdown for the Rams, a difference of 10 points in the closing seconds of the first half.
Of course, the Rams cannot depend upon the defense to score their only touchdown in a football game. But it would be great if that did happen. The Rams will be on the road for as many as four post-season football games.
