LA Rams News: Front office targeted by Falcons and Jaguars

Falcons-Holmes
The LA Rams coaching staff are not the only targets of other NFL teams. To help rebuild rosters, several NFL teams are seeking new general managers from the ranks of the LA Rams personnel department. For example, college-scouting director Brad Holmes has become the target for an interview for the Atlanta Falcons General Manager Vacancy.
Holmes has been a key contributor to the LA Rams personnel department for 18 years, beginning as an intern with the public relations department. His focus was always scouting, as he became a scouting assistant for the Rams in 2004. He worked his way up, eventually taking on the position of director of college scouting
Why he could fail?
At one point in time, a resume with one employer that showed a steady trend of promotion was the cream of the crop. Brad Holmes is one such candidate. He has shown an ever-increasing role with the Rams for the past decade and a half. Unfortunately, his only world experience in the realm of NFL scouting is the LA Rams.
In looking for a General Manager, the ideal candidate will need to have experience at contract writing, player negotiations, scouting of college and NFL free agents, and have demonstrated the ability to build a roster that wins now but can win in the future. Holmes is great at what he does but limited in what he does as well.
Why he could succeed?
There is such positive energy about Brad Holmes, that it is truly infectious. While the ideal candidate will need to have touched upon all aspects of the GM role, the Falcons will be realistically focused and realize that no single candidate can compile every skillset required. So the key is to employ a great motivator and team-builder. Yahoo Sports featured Brad Holmes in an excellent article by journalist Eric Edholm
"‘But when you get to that stage, that’s when you really have to start dialing into preparing [to be a GM] if you’re ever blessed and fortunate enough to be in that chair. That’s an ultimate goal for sure. It takes time and it takes luck, too. You just try to make as much of both as you can with hard work and preparation along the way.’- Brad Holmes per an interview with Yahoo Sports Eric Edholm"
Brad Holmes radiates positivity. For any NFL team seeking to change the culture quickly, Holmes certainly seems up to the task. It seems that the Falcons like Holmes enough for a second follow up interview.
For Brad Holmes, he is very deserving of an opportunity to be the General Manager of the Falcons. But for the LA Rams’ sake, let’s hope the Falcons hire elsewhere.
