LA Rams: 5 Players to watch for at the upcoming Senior Bowl
3. LB, UGA Monty Rice
University of Georgia’s linebacker Monty Rice is probably the most underrated linebacker in this draft. Something the Rams need to make a priority this offseason is getting that replacement for inside linebacker Cory Littleton who left on a lucrative deal to play for the Las Vegas Raiders a year ago.
The Rams have decent depth at the position, but if they want a player who’s going to go sideline to sideline for you and be a thumper, that would be Rice. He excels in open-field tackling, and if there’s any gripe of the Rams defense from the past few years is just finishing through contact.
The Rams struggled at tackling in 2020. So it’s not a stretch of any imagination to expect the team to seek out sure-handed tacklers in the draft this year. Rice truly is the whole package, he is good in man coverage from underneath and has the quickness to stay with the RBs.
Of course, it is rare that a perfectly suited player falls into the late second round or beyond. But it would be a home run pick for the Rams front office if he does fall to them, as of right now it seems likely as most experts are looking past all his talents.
