LA Rams: 5 Players to watch for at the upcoming Senior Bowl
4. WR, Clemson Amari Rodgers
It was evident this past season that the Rams were missing that speedy vertical threat to take the top off the defense. The Rams wide receiver group is one of the league’s best units but they need a player who can stretch the field and give quarterback Jared Goff (or whoever is at QB) the option to look downfield.
When it came to deep pass attempts, the Rams ranked near the bottom. To get back to the middle of the pack or trend in the right direction, they need another speedster, and Rodgers would be a perfect fit. Most fans shrugged off the trade of WR Brandin Cooks to the Houston Texans but it seems like he was more important to the offense than we might have thought.
Rodgers could come in and emulate what Cooks provided for the Rams.
Oh, and he’s also good in the punt return game so he could be a nice addition to the special teams unit as well. That was an area of particular concern for the Rams all season.
He’s not the tallest receiver by any means. He stands 5-foot-10 and weighs a muscular 210-pounds. Where he explodes is at his raw speed, where he is estimated to run a 4.4-second 40-yard dash. That is just off the mark of former-Rams wide receiver Brandin Cooks.
