Are the LA Rams suddenly the desired team to play for by some of the best NFL quarterbacks who may be available in 2021? On ESPN’s Pat McAfee show, Adam Schefter talks openly on air about the possibility of Aaron Rodgers to refuse to play for the Green Bay Packers and force a trade to the LA Rams. What gives? Well, we know that the LA Rams are embroiled in a bit of quarterback controversy.  On ESPN’s Get UP, Adam Schefter made the following statement at the 0:10 mark:

"‘ And if Aaron Rodgers tells Green Bay, and I’m not saying he will, but if he tells them ‘I’m not showing up there again and I want to go play in LA’? Guess what? The Packers are stuck!’"

And he’s right. But then the counterpoint is made. The LA Rams do not have the three or four first-round picks to trade for Rodgers. Oh really?

There is a reason why Adam Schefter casually tossed Aaron Rodgers’ name out in a public claim that he may want to play for the LA Rams. Since Matt LeFleur left the LA Rams after the 2018 NFL season, he spent one season as the offensive coordinator for the Tenessee Titans before taking over the helm at Green Bay to become the head coach of the Packers. And the first thing he did was install an offense that is very similar to run by the Rams’ head coach Sean McVay.

Also, Aaron Rodgers has roots in California. In fact, he spent his childhood in Chico, California, a wonderful community north of Sacramento and Yuba City. That fact is never out of Aaron Rodgers’s mind, as he frequently makes headlines due to that fact. He remains a very generous donor to the University of California in support of their football program. And it’s always a topic of discussion when he plays a team from California.

Where there is smoke, there is fire. Right now, a cloud of smoke is hovering over the LA Rams. The LA Rams have been mentioned as a possible destination for Houston Texans’ quarterback Deshaun Watson. The Rams have been named as a possible willing trade partner for Detroit Lions’ quarterback Matthew Stafford. And now, the LA Rams are named as a possible team that Aaron Rodgers wants to play for.

It’s hard to deny the potential of a scenario of Aaron Rodgers joining the LA Rams. That union would be as electrifying to the LA Rams as when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers landed free-agent quarterback Tom Brady. And landing Rodgers would certainly be the Granddaddy of blockbuster trades for the Rams, wouldn’t it? It would be a splash move so big that it would lock up the Los Angeles market by the Rams for years to come.

What’s going on in the NFL right now? Well, some very reputable persons are tossing the LA Rams name into the ring for some of the top NFL quarterbacks, at a time when the Rams are themselves visibly displaying frustration over their quarterback play. Will something definitely happen with the Rams and quarterback Jared Goff? Perhaps not.

A year ago, similar NFL Rumors surfaced that the Rams would be moving away from veteran running back Todd Gurley and wide receiver Brandin Cooks. Two months later, both were gone. Either there is a grain of truth to the rumors where the Rams are seeking a new face at their quarterback position. Or, at the least, someone in the NFL wishes the public to believe that they are actively looking to upgrade.
