Going mobile

So let’s consider the QB “field” that might just offer us that special “muddy track” outlier option quality – specifically, the mobile dual-threat quarterback prospects  available in the later rounds after Day two..

After all, the way the NFL game has evolved recently, running QBs such as Baltimore Ravens’ QB Lamar Jackson, Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen and Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray have done more than just open NFL team’s eyes to the merits of a running quarterback.

Hot. Texans’ Watson requests trade, and LA Rams makes some sense as a landing spot. light

The way they threaten defenses in both the run or pass has whetted the appetite of offensive mined head coaches like Rams head coach Sean McVay. Mobile quarterbacks have taken the NFL by storm, and the Rams want one.

The move toward spread Air-Raid type offense has opened up more space, and the position on the field that perhaps benefits the most from having more space to maneuver is the quarterback.

A speedy QB can pose mega-problems for NFL defenses. A QB that can tuck and run puts a load of extra pressure on the defensive ends and LBs to be able to read both the QB’s intentions and also the running back simultaneously. Without quick ends, or sideline-to-sideline LBs, you’re suddenly vulnerable to a dual threat QB who just might run the ball.  There’s just too much space for one player to cover.
