Mobile QB’s who the LA Rams can draft to replace Jared Goff

The LA Rams strategy for the 2021 NFL Draft is critical for the 2021 season and beyond. Unfortunately, much of that strategy is already in the hands of the Detroit Lions, thanks to the exodus of Brad Holmes and Ray Agnew from the LA Rams front office to the general manager and assistant general manager position of the Lions. So they likely know who the Rams were interested in. But it won’t help their team if the roster needs are different.
When you follow in the QB footsteps of Lamar Jackson at Louisville, comparisons are inevitable, and while Malik Cunningham may not be Lamar 2.0, he’s a super-shifty, slippery elusive eel of a QB just like Lamarr, and is most often predicted to go in the early fifth round.
This 6-foot-1, 200-pounder’s 2020 stat line reads 2,617 passing yards, 20 passing touchdowns, 12 interceptions, 609 rushing yards, and 7 rushing touchdowns.
He has agility and quickness as a runner, especially in the open field, qualities that make him difficult to defend, but his passing accuracy is also routinely questioned.
And a third dual threat QB option is Sam Ehlinger, Texas, most often seen as going in the late fifth or early sixth round. At 6-foot-3, 230-pounds he has the size you like to see, but his most compelling skill is his running ability. He is most definitely a running QB. We shall call him Tim Tebow 2.0
The LA Rams could actually be a nice landing spot for Ehlinger, a spot where he can learn the ropes of the NFL as a backup reserve to Jared Goff. (assuming Goff is the starter next year).
As for the rest of the QB” field,” I see a lot of pocket passer statues with limited mobility available, but they all fail our criteria for dual-threat capability. That’s neither a direction the NFL nor the Rams are moving in.
