Nico Collins, Michigan, WR

Here’s where it’s all about Stafford. Get him weapons. Much like Fisher from the last pick Nico Collins had the potential to be drafted in the first round.

Collins opted out of the 2020 college season so the buzz around his name isn’t as high as it could’ve been. Collins had high production in 2019, his final year playing, with over 700 receiving yards and 7 touchdowns. However, that’s not the best part. Collins had a whopping 19.7 yards per reception his final year.

It’s not just the production but the size as well. Collins stands at 6’4″ and is a big receiver who specializes in jump balls. He would add a little more diversity to the Rams offense. He uses physicality to beat corners off the line and his size to out body defenders to catch the ball.

While Collins shows promise he still has some work to do to succeed in the NFL. Collins lacks the speed to create separation. His size and talent will only get him so far because in NFL because everyone on that field is talented. He will need to work on two things to ake up for that speed, his route running, and his route tree.

Kenny Golliday had the same knocks coming out and was also taken in the 3rd round. He later developed into one of Stafford’s favorite targets. Collins is the exact build of a receiver he likes to throw to so the connection to the Rams just makes sense.
