David Moore, Grambling, C

In my last draft, I had the Rams pick up Creed Humphrey with their first pick in the second round. I believed Blythe will be lost in free agency then and I still do now. Unfortunately, at pick 57, Humphries seems out of reach which means the Rams need to look elsewhere. A center that is currently under the radar is David Moore from Grambling.

While most projected him as a late rounder in the draft, he definitely helped his draft stock at the Senior Bowl. I have him rising to an early day three pick, possibly day two.

Some knocks I have on him are his level of competition in college and his footwork. Gambling isn’t a division 1 school meaning the jump to the NFL will be greater. Also, his footwork can use some work as he can get stale feet. While he’s hard to move he can’t move a defender if he doesn’t move his feet.

Watching him at the senior bowl, he might have relieved some of those cons. While going up against the best seniors college has to offer he showed he could hang in with NFL prospects which means he will more than likely also compete with the pros.

A good comparison for Moore would be Rodney Hudson of the Las Vegas Raiders. Both are on the shorter side for their position who are heavy players.

There’s also one unknown factor with Moore, his presnap callouts. Unless a player comes from a pro-like system or relies on their center for pre-snap reads with audibles for the line, there can be a learning curve as a player goes pro. Most figure it out but it’s still a thing to watch for.
