2021 NFL Draft compensatory picks

The LA Rams lost OLB Dante Fowler Jr. to the Atlanta Falcons and a new contract at approximately $15 million per year.  They also lost ILB Cory Littleton to the Las Vegas Raiders and a new contract for approximately $11.5 million per year. Finally, the team lost K Greg Zuerlein to the Dallas Cowboys at approximately $2.5 million per year.

The Rams signed OLB Leonard Floyd, but he was waived by the Chicago Bears and is not a factor. The Rams also signed NT A’Shawn Robinson, eventually amounting to approximately $6 million per year deal.

So the Rams will be awarded a third-round pick for Fowler, a fourth-round pick for Littleton, and any compensatory pick that may have been awarded due to Zuerlein will be canceled out by Robinson. In the end, the LA Rams will likely be awarded a third-round pick and a fourth-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Of course, there are other factors in place as well. The LA Rams lost executive Brad Holmes, who agreed to become the General Manager of the Detroit Lions. Thanks to amendments in the NFL-NFLPA agreement, that qualifies the Rams to be awarded a third-round compensatory draft pick in both the 2021 NFL Draft as well as the 2022 NFL Draft.  Right now, the LA Rams are looking at six picks in the 2021 NFL Draft.
