5 projected waived Eagles who could be gold for the LA Rams in 2021

Ertz, don’t it?
Why would the LA Rams be interested in TE Zach Ertz when they are willing to let TE Gerald Everett walk? Well, Ertz has started at least 11 games every season dating back to 2016 and hauled in 36 catches for 335 yards and one touchdown in 2020. He was elected to the Pro Bowl in 2019 for the third straight year. That’s an impressive resume.
Scheduled to reach free agency in 2022, he’s also expected to become a salary cap casualty in Philly shortly, as the team continues to slough salary to get under the cap. And a veteran like Ertz understands the power of a one-year deal. He also recognizes and respects the opportunity to play for Sean McVay’s offense for one season.
And since the free-agent market for tight ends is rather thin this year, Ertz’s possible contributions to a contending team become all the more marketable. Per Sports Illustrated Connor Myles, the Rams have already contacted the Eagles about a possible trade.
A consummate professional and team leader in Philly, the Rams would surely benefit from his skillset, given that Stafford likes to throw to his tight ends. Although last season was the most disappointing of his career, Ertz might be able to bounce back in a more explosive offense with Stafford at the helm. And the Rams certainly making those would benefit from Ertz’s sure-handed reliability in the middle of the field making those hotly-contested 50-50 ball receptions.
