LA Rams new OL coach Carberry has key ties to OL FAs and prospects

OL coach with ties to valuable prospects
One of the first places I look whenever a new NFL coach is hired from the college coaching ranks is the links they may have with potential NFL Draft prospects. After all, not only were those coaches front and center to developing players on their own team, they are often very versed in a large number of college players from their own recruiting efforts and college competition. So who might the LA Rams be interested in from Standford? So glad you asked.
The LA Rams need, not want, an offensive center. And 6-foot-3 300-pound offensive center Drew Dalman. Per Pro Football Focus, Dalman was 2020’s highest-graded offensive lineman in the Pac-12 (84.8). Despite that ranking, Dalman projects as a late day three or priority free agent signing after the 2021 NFL Draft. Don’t discount Dalman completely. He flashed brilliant games, like this 2019 game where he earned PAC-12 Offensive Lineman of the Week.
The prize of Stanford University’s offensive line in the 2021 NFL Draft is 6-foot-7 320-pound offensive tackle Walker Little. He is a huge prospect who looms large and plays larger. He suffered a knee injury in 2019 and coupled that with opting out of the 2020 season has placed his NFL Draft ranking all over the board. The consensus so far is that he will likely be selected in round two or three. And in at least one draft profile he has been conveniently compared to LA Rams OT Andrew Whitworth.
With the current ban in California for events like a college Pro Day, If Stanford players are unable to host their own Pro Day on March 18, players will travel to TCU’s campus and participate in their Pro Day on March 19. It will be very interesting to determine how the LA Rams are represented on Stanford’s Pro Day, wherever it is held.
For the time being, Kevin Carberry has plenty of work to do. The LA Rams are going younger on the coaching staff, and with at least one more hire, the staff has strong historic links to Sean McVay.
