Rams Free Agency will feel the loss of JJ III
Respected by his coaches and fellow players alike, he’s been lauded by All-Pro CB Jaylen Ramsey as someone who he enjoys playing alongside.

His loss from the team will surely be sharply felt. His departure will be somewhat mollified however because the NFL has a process of giving teams that lose highly-valued veterans to free agency a means of recouping some of that talent-drain in the following year via awarded compensatory draft picks. If the current projection holds true, the Rams could be awarded as high as a third-round pick for Johnson.
Maybe… a record-setting deal?
Johnston will likely land with a team that is looking to upgrade its secondary play and perhaps more importantly, has the available cap space to lure him with a fat payday. Spotrac estimated Johnson’s market value at $8.3 million, but there are 17 safeties already making $9 million, so that figure could go much higher. In fact, based on the high demand and very light on supply, we expect that John Johnson III could set an NFL record.
The market for NFL safeties is red hot right now.
Barring a late, unknown franchise tag, 9 were used:

With three key free-agent safeties out of the market before it even begins, it truly has become a seller’s market. So now the question is who will pay the price to land the top safety in free agency? Hmmm… I wonder.
