Non-power powerful back

While he is shorter of stature, he is often described as a power-back, a term we’ve used to describe the need for a rusher capable of gaining short-yardage and red-zone scores. If the Rams believe him to be that, then he could be an upgrade over the role veteran Malcolm Brown filled on the Rams offense.

We don’t see him in that bruiser role. He needs to work in space. He is powerful enough to win battles with defensive backs with the ball in his hands. And he is elusive enough to get separation from linebackers who attempt to stay with him stride for stride. In short, he causes headaches to defenses. And whichever way the defense sets up to stop him, the Rams can counter with doing the opposite.

Is he worth that third-round pick? Well, if the Rams plan to deploy him as an active weapon in the 2021 offense, he could be devastatingly effective. If the goal is to draft him, only to redshirt him for the season in a manner similar to that used with WR Van Jefferson, then that changes the answer completely.
