Future LA Rams draft picks: Updated with projected 2022 comp picks
By Bret Stuter
2023 NFL Draft
The Rams future beyond the 2022 NFL Draft is improving ever so slightly as well. While you may not have realized it, but the LA Rams have traded draft picks as far into the future as the 2023 draft. To place this into proper perspective, the Rams obtained QB Matthew Stafford under contract through the 2022 NFL season. They will still be paying for him with another first-round draft pick in the following year’s draft.
The Rams organization needs to be right with his ability to succeed in the Rams’ offense. Otherwise, the shakeup to the coaching staff, and possibly to the front office, will be sudden and dramatic.
But back to the draft. Despite the loss of the first-round pick, the Rams are still looking at seven picks in the 2023 NFL Draft. Here are how the picks break down.
Round 1 – TRADED. The LA Rams have tentatively traded their 2023 first-round pick to the Detroit Lions for quarterback Matthew Stafford.
Round 2– The Rams hold their second-round pick.
Round 3 – The Rams hold their third-round pick.
Round 4 – The Rams hold their fourth-round pick
Round 5 – The Rams hold their fifth-round pick.
Round 6 -The Rams hold their sixth-round pick.
Round 7 – The Rams hold their seventh-round pick.
Round 7 – The Rams hold their seventh-round pick.
Round 7 – The LA Rams will receive the Detroit Lions 2023 seventh-round draft picks as part of the exchange which sent DL Michael Brockers to the Lions.
COMPENSATORY PICKS: Unable to determine at this time
While the Rams have no compensatory pick projections, and will not until the 2022 NFL Free Agency market concludes, there is every indication that the team will be awarded additional picks in the 2023 NFL Draft.
