II: Rams HC McVay and WR DJax know one another very well
Yes, LA Rams head coach Sean McVay and DeSean Jackson are very familiar with one another. That in itself adds tremendous upside to this reunion. With other players, there are the formalities of introductions and cross-checking interviews that GPS the vision that the coach has for the player and the expectations that the player has of his role and of the coach.
It was no secret that McVay wanted a new weapon for his offense. But adding a familiar face is the best-case scenario for an offense already tasked with system checking everything that they have with new quarterback Matthew Stafford.
DeSean Jackson is 34, and he was injured the last 2 years. He's still fast as hell.

He's also the first veteran skill-position addition to the Rams' offense since Brandin Cooks.
I've been saying Sean McVay deserves new weapons for 2 years. Now he finally has one he knows well. pic.twitter.com/UQHG3U8NFo
Head coach McVay knows full well what a special skillset Jackson brings to the table, having coached him previously during his tenure with the Washington Football Team. In fact, it was that Washington offense under McVay that truly amplified the production of DJax. So there should be no surprises
Long overdue addition
To the delight of many Rams fans, his signing is more than just welcomed, it is embraced as a long-overdue addition. The Rams haven’t added a veteran skill-player weapon to their offensive arsenal in the last two seasons. And with the same faces, NFL defenses seemed to have found the right range of schemes to complicate the Rams’ efforts to score. This most certainly will add to the ‘new-and-improved’ splash for 2021.
In one of those chicken-or-egg questions, had the LA Rams gotten into a rut on offense because they had no new offensive skill players? Or had the offense gone stale because they had no new offensive concepts?
