LA Rams News: Team faces boom or bust in 2021 NFL Draft

Roster enhancements
Okay, after the more pressing needs have been addressed, the team can look for players who can add a new dimension or skillset to the team. While the team only has six draft picks, they multiplied quickly a year ago when the Rams traded WR Brandin Cooks and then traded back in the 2020 NFL Draft. So where might the team look to enhance the roster during or after the 2021 NFL Draft? Well, many areas to be honest. But here are some areas that still jump out.
A fast return specialist (KR/PR) will always be welcome. It’s a safe bet that they will come from the wide receiver position, and will be that shorter receiver who has blazing speed but raw catching skillsets. The 2021 receiver draft class is very deep, so I am confident that the Rams will find multiple prospects to sign even after the draft.
Defense
The Rams have drafted for the inside linebacker (ILB) position late in the draft each year, and have lost the prospect each year when they cut them from their roster with the intention of signing them to the practice squad
Even as the Rams address the edge rusher (OLB) position, if there are talented players who drop in this draft, the Rams will need to harvest one or two more after the draft. The Rams will lose Obo and Justin Lawler in 2022, so even as a development role, the Rams should take a hard look at one or two more signings after the draft.
The Rams lost Troy Hill to free agency, but will only have Darious Williams for one more season. Cornerback (CB) is still a need. Even as the Rams have met with multiple candidates, they will need to sign no fewer than two cornerbacks after the draft and to emerge with at least three rookie cornerbacks on the roster this year. Why so many? The Rams cannot swing and miss at that position.
