LA Rams Taylor Rapp launches NFTs to benefit AAPI

A week ago, we published an article asking which LA Rams player would be the first to launch NFTs. At the time, NFTs, or Non-Fungible Tokens, were the latest craze and were just beginning to get involvement from NFL players. Since it was the NFL and a new investment avenue, we wanted to give it some explanation.

That’s a fancy way of saying we had no clue what it all meant, so we did some digging. What we uncovered in that research, we shared in an article over a week ago. Ramblin Fan contributor Jay Blucher wrote an excellent focus feature about NFTs, exploring the revenue stream for players and the investment potential for NFL collectors.

NFTs are the next wave of technology and sports memorabilia. Loosely linked to bitcoin and other cryptocurrency technology, and are rapidly becoming valuable methods of investing in the NFL in a most unorthodox style. So far, tight end Rob Gronkowski is the first to officially launch his NFT. Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is exploring the technology. And now, LA Rams safety Taylor Rapp is entering the industry.

Rapp is launching his NFTs as a fundraising effort to benefit the Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders community (AAPI).  Per Opensea.io, the sale of six unique cards will be online. Each card and edition has its own auction, sold to the highest bidder. All auctions will open Thursday, April 1st at 6:00 pm PT and end on April 4th at 9:00 pm PT. The cards to be sold include:

1 – 牛转乾坤-Change The World (1-of-1) (FEATURE ITEM – see below)

2– 财运犇腾-Tsunami Of Wealth (7 editions)

3– 金牛报喜-Golden Ox Brings Happiness (10 editions)

4– 健壮如牛-Strong As An Ox (24 editions)

5– 牛气冲天-Your Spirit Soaring (24 editions)

6 – 好运犇放-Unchained Good Fortune (24 editions)

Each of the six cards will be digitally hand-signed by Taylor Rapp. The sale will feature six designs, with 90 total sales. The feature item of the sale is the RARE  1-of-1 Taylor Rapp-Change The World “digital painting”, featuring his favorite Chinese proverb and Ox tattoo his grandpa hand-painted.

The lucky winner of this NFT will win a meet and greet with Taylor, tickets to a future NFL game, a signed jersey, a signed pair of game-worn gloves, a signed pair of game-worn cleats, and a signed football!

Per Taylor Rapp himself, A portion of the sales will go directly to the AAPI Community Fund!!  And so, the first LA Rams player NFT is hitting the market within hours.  The launch also has a video as seen below:

The proceeds of all sales will determine the eventual percentage forwarded to the AAPI Community Fund.  Taylor Rapp was born to Canadian father Chris Rapp and to Chinese mother Chiyan Rapp. His play in the NFL has allowed him to become a role model for Asian Americans who aspire to realize their own dream to someday play in the NFL. And this is one more reason why he has become exactly that.
