The LA Rams may be pivoting from the NFL free agency market to turn their attention towards the 2021 NFL Draft, but don’t tell All-Pro Jalen Ramsey that just yet. You see, he is still recruiting for prospective teammates to join him in Los Angeles, and was hard at it even on April 1.

His target? Former Carolina Panthers cornerback Corn Elder. Elder was the 152nd player chosen from the 2017 NFL Draft by the Panthers (Fifth-round) and is now a free agent. If not for the social media recruiting by Ramsey, there is no way that Elder would jump out at me. He is not bad, but rather just one of these NFL players who never breaks the plane of depth/role player into anything more significant.

But anyone who catches Jalen Ramsey’s attention is absolutely worth a look-see.  So, what do we find with Corn Elder? Well, let’s have a look, shall we?

But even before we get to crack open the vault on the former Carolina Panther cornerback, he is off the market. Just like that. A day later? Yep. Right after the endorsement of Jalen Ramsey. It’s not as though his former CB coach Aubrey Pleasant would value his perspective on the matter, would he? Whoops! He just might at that.

While Elder is seeking a chance to earn another shot in the NFL, he may be able to pull that off with the Lions. He spent his rookie season on injured reserve, and that seemed to demote him to the ranks of practice squad rosters until 2020. He played in 16 games for the Panthers this past season and started in one. Now under Coach Pleasant, he could earn a solid rotational role among a Lions’ secondary that is a state of disrepair.

He certainly has the belief of All-Pro defensive back Jalen Ramsey, who continues to lobby for an outside cornerback free agency signing. Very curious endorsement this late in the free agency cycle, as the NFL, and the LA Rams, approach the draft.
