The LA Rams need to pair up All-Pro DL Aaron Donald with young DL talent. Here are 5 NFL Draft prospects who would be great teammates for 2021

The LA Rams are looking for the ultimate teammate for All-Pro defensive lineman Aaron Donald. is this the year that they do exactly that? Well, to be honest, as bizarre as it may sound, that is what may take place this year. In a season with fewer top-notch prospects, and even less solid intel, the LA Rams have a great opportunity to address a ‘kink’ in the hose from their 2020 NFL Playoff experience.

Walking it back, the LA Rams learned a painful lesson against the Green Bay Packers in the Divisional Round of the NFL Playoffs. Without a healthy All-Pro Aaron Donald disrupting the offensive line, the Rams defense can be less effective against a solid and determined offense. It’s easy to fall into the trance-like state of letting Donald do what Donald does. But what happens when Donald doesn’t?

The reality hit when Donald tried to play at less than 100 percent. Suddenly, he was less effective. His ability to disrupt the offense out of their rhythm just wasn’t there. Packers QB Aaron Rodgers played superbly, mixing runs and passes all afternoon to keep the Rams Top-Ranked defense on their heels the entire game.

There is no question that the Rams defense was filled with talent. But in that game in Lambeau Field, the LA Rams fell short of a defender who could change the outcome of the game like Aaron Donald had done for the team so often before. So with another off-season to address the shortfalls of the LA Rams roster, and the realization that the Rams need another disruptive defensive lineman, this is the time to get that done.

The 2020 NFL Draft class is reportedly not as strong and deep at defensive linemen as in years past. But this class has a number of strong, talented defensive linemen. The only challenge? Many are deemed undersized in their draft profiles.  Yes, that’s right. The same cliches that were used to describe All-Pro defensive lineman Aaron Donald are still in use.  So who might catch the Rams’ attention in the 2021 NFL Draft?
