How can LA Rams reboot A’Shawn Robinson this season
By Bret Stuter
The LA Rams need tech support this season. Or perhaps simply someone to direct them on how to do one simple thing. Power cycle. It’s the universal tech support direction when all else fails. Anything from freezing up to slow performance with a new application, even down to unexpected results. Hit the power button, power everything down. And then, depending upon the severity of the problem hit that power button once more.
Voila! that simple action can restore peak performance to computers and programs, newly installed applications, and even allow the computer to communicate correctly with the mouse, the monitor, the printer, and any number of extra devices plugged into the computer.
Now, wouldn’t it be great for that same action to be just as effective in the NFL? Let’s recap. The LA Rams had lost veteran DT Michael Brockers to the Baltimore Ravens via free agency and had initially elected not to re-sign DE Morgan Fox. Instead, the Rams signed DT A’Shawn Robinson. But Robinson developed a non-football-related medical condition. Meanwhile, the Rams brought back both Michael Brockers and Morgan Fox.
With a full defensive line rotation, and Robinson missing the first half of the season, it was virtually impossible to crowbar enough snaps from the Rans 2020 players to get the newly signed defensive lineman sufficient defensive snaps. And so, Robinson found himself chasing down the bus that had already pulled away from the station. In fact, he never did get a full part in rotating on the defensive line all season.
