How can LA Rams reboot A’Shawn Robinson this season
By Bret Stuter
Rams defensive front wide open now
When the LA Rams signed Detroit Lions defensive lineman A’Shawn Robinson, little did anyone suspect what would soon follow between the two teams? The Lions and Rams would exchange quarterbacks, with Stafford joining Robinson in Los Angeles while Goff would pack up and move to Detroit. Then, weeks later, the Rams traded veteran defensive lineman Michael Brockers to Detroit for a seventh-round pick in 2023. Yes, that’s right. A veteran starting defensive lineman for a seventh-round pick two years into the future.
So the Rams and Lions have developed a bit of an NFL-Commerce relationship.
The problem at hand
While all that is fascinating stuff, it doesn’t help out the problem at hand. The Rams signed Robinson to a multi-year deal to start on the defensive line, and to date, that hasn’t happened. If the truth be told, it hasn’t even been close to happening. So with the LA Rams defensive line in need of starters, the obvious first place to look is towards A’Shawn Robinson.
Now that the Rams are down two starters in the defensive line rotation, it makes sense for the team to infuse a larger role for Robinson. But how will the Rams accommodate the new defensive line configuration? Can Robinson finally step up for the Rams, as was both the hope and plan for 2020? We are still optimistic. You see, the window of opportunity has been flung wide open. So how can A’Shawn Robinson restart his career, both with the LA Rams and the NFL? Here are three ways to make that happen.
